Here is a beginning sher (couplet) from a poem by Agha Shahid Ali. Can you identify the kaafiyaa in the poem? Click with your mouse on the where you think it is located.

Many English speaking poets don't use a kaafiyaa because it is hard to find enough English words that rhyme and carry this throughout the ghazal. However, the internal rhyme does provide a sensuality to the lines and carries the reader on to the final radif (refrain.)
